Case Study: The Sanford Center

Founded in 2010, the Sanford Center is a 185,000 sq. ft., 4,700 to 6,000 -seat multi-purpose event arena and conference center, and is the hub of social, cultural and recreational events in northern Minnesota. It serves the broader regional community and has an estimated $18 million annual impact on the economy of north-central Minnesota. Its chief tenant is Bemidji State University men's and women's hockey, but it also plays host to conferences, conventions, and touring acts such as Tech N9ne, Disney Live, Jeff Dunham, Blake Shelton, Styx, the Harlem Globetrotters, and more.

Evensen Creative began consulting with the Sanford Center in 2011. Projects have included alternative and traditional advertising, developing campaigns for Coca-Cola, the Minnesota National Guard, Wells Fargo, and others, as well as promotional materials for the Sanford Center and assistance in marketing and promotions. Since that crucial turning point, the facility has seen a 300% increase in advertising revenue. As a city-owned property, this stream of revenue has allowed the Sanford Center to pay down its loans with the city and increased its operating budget to a sustainable level.
